Plant Talk Special Edition

Another development in the past year has been that the Eden Project has taken the Plant Talk magazine under its wing. Tony Kendle has joined long-term Plant Talk supporters Hugh Synge, Jane Smart and Gina Fullerlove as a board member. Dan Ryan has been appointed as Editor. They are planning a special commemorative print edition in memory of Richard, who was a key figure in the history of Plant Talk. This issue will take a decidedly ‘Richard’ look at the world and combine conservation with commerce, vitality and hope. Plant Talk’s focus is, and always will be, wild plant conservation and as Richard’s great strength was in gluing together often disparate disciplines, it is this joining up that will underpin this special issue.

Guest articles will reflect the best in modern conservation under the loose themes of:

  1. Innovative approaches to plant conservation
  2. Unlikely alliances – business and NGOs working together
  3. Poverty alleviation and sustainable livelihoods
  4. Deforestation and its role in the climate debate
  5. The North South divide and development gaps
  6. Rehabilitation of degraded lands
  7. Future proofing the planet - what problems loom and what can be done?
  8. Desertification

Sir Ghillean Prance, Fred Pearce and James Mayers have already agreed to provide articles. Dan is actively seeking articles and authors. Please email your suggestions directly to him at dryan@edenproject.com.
