The next generation
Richard Sandbrook made his mark with a life dedicated to bringing about positive change in the world. Several initiatives have been set up in his name to encourage the next generation to follow in his footsteps.
Oxford University Sandbrook Scholars
Students at Oxford University’s Exeter College can apply for a Sandbrook Scholarship bursary to cover a working placement with either the International Union for Conservation of Nature or the International Institute for Environment and Development. Richard Sandbrook Memorial Prize, Forum for the Future
Since 1996, Forum for the Future has been training the sustainability leaders of the future. More than 150 students have graduated from the Leadership for Sustainable Development Masters programme, with many already making their mark as think-tank directors and government advisors.
Every year, Forum awards a Richard Sandbrook Memorial Prize to a graduate of its Leadership for Sustainable Development Masters. The scholars themselves choose the winner by anonymous vote. See where these prize winners have taken their careers...
Elisabeth Filkin (2009–10)
Lizzie’s degree was in Geography and she now works as an analyst with Upstream Sustainability Services, part of Jones Lang LaSalle.
Max Hogg (2008–09)
Max studied Politics, Philosophy and Economics and is now a Policy and Research Manager for Think Global (formerly Development Education Association).
Andy Voysey (2007–08)
Andy came to Forum with a degree in Geography and is now Secretary of the ClimateWise initiative for global insurance industries at the University of Cambridge Programme for Sustainability Leadership.
Jenny Pidgeon (2006–07)
Jenny came to Forum with a degree in Spanish and Portuguese and, after working as an Associate Director with Upstream Sustainability Services at Jones Lang LaSalle, is now Director of Responsible Property Investment for Henderson Global Investors.
